FL17 - Day 6

Today was a local day. We usually have a few R&R days built in to holidays.  Days to sit about and do nothing.

So today it was.

A late breakfast and as it was actually sunny... Yes folks.  The Sunshine State is failing to live up to that name. We decided to see if we could find any "old" places. We did find Broadway in Kissimmee as we were on our way to look at the lake called Tohopekaliga.

The lake itself was a bit like a swamp and we saw some wading birds picking into the mass of reed and debris washed up close to the edge. You could see it rise and fall as the wind moved the water.

We had a short walk and then parked up to have a coffee. We chose Diane's Tea Shop on Broadway.  A mix of tea shop and antiques/junk shop.  Very nice.

The chocolate cake came with an offer of a "to go" box. When it arrived I could see why.

When it came to leaving there was still half a cake let to go in the box.

The car pinged an alarm to say that it needed petrol and clicking various buttons showed the trip I had forgotten to zero when we picked it up. So I have no idea how many miles we have got out of the first full tank in the Impala.  The fuel range counter when I had put $35 in showed 425. So I guess that we may have gotten (see US speak) 375 or so under our wheels.  Just over 10 miles to the $? Good? Bad? The price was $2.539 a gallon. I zeroed Trip A this time though.

Once back at Silver Lake we went to check out the onsite shop and had an ice cream by the pool. It rained.

It doesn't last long and it is still very warm. Today it was raining hard and the car showed 77°F.

What to do next?  I am still intrigued how we managed to mess up the Osceola Parkway and Disneyworld bit yesterday.

Plus everyone says "you must visit Florida Mall". Not seen it advertised anywhere!!

But tomorrow is another day.

Update.

We had a drive to find the way out through Osceola Parkway and it was a bit messy.

We found out what went wrong yesterday but still found it Disney everywhere. Chinese takeaway for dinner.

We ordered two dishes and rice. When the bag was handed over it seemed very heavy. Enough in fact for four people. Guess what's for lunch tomorrow? At least we finished off the to-go chocolate cake.

  1. That chocolate cake looks pretty yummy. 77 degrees and rain seems like it would be quite humid though.
